Domingo González’s 2023 Spanish romantic film “My Fault” (Spanish: Culpa mia), starring Nicole Wallace and Gabriel Guevara, is his first full-length film as a filmmaker. It is based on Mercedes Ron’s story of the same name from Wattpad. Its IMDb rating is 6.3/10

Noah, who is proud and independent at the age of 17, objects to living in a home surrounded by lavishness. There, she meets Nick, her new stepbrother, and right away, it’s obvious how their powerful personalities clash.

Storyline:
To move into the mansion of her mother Rafaella’s new husband William Leister, Noah leaves her hometown with her mother Rafaella, leaving behind her best friend Betty and boyfriend Dan. They quickly develop a hateful relationship after she meets her stepbrother Nick. To help the family get to know one another better, William plans a dinner. Nick and Noah get into a fight once more over dinner.
It is revealed to Noah that Nick, who happens to be uninformed about his father and Rafaella, smokes, studied law, and is a champion surfer. Midway through supper, Nick departs for his job. William and Rafaella grudgingly accept when Noah says she is leaving too, asking Nick to drop him up at home as his work is on their route.
After Nick and Noah get into another altercation, Nick abandons Noah in the middle of the road. Later, Mario picks Noah up, and it’s from him that she finds out Nick is attending a party. Noah learns that Nick is a playboy who hangs out with many of the girls at the party. She also meets Ronnie, who just so happens to be incarcerated. She also gets to know Jenna, Lion, her boyfriend, and Nick’s pal Anna. Jenna and Noah get along well right away.
Ronnie’s pal Tipo tries to give Noah a drink during the celebration. Nick steps in, rescues Noah, and drives her home. Noah has a dream while high about her mother being attacked by someone. Nick uses Noah’s phone to message her mother while she is with Jenna watching a movie, informing her that their problems have been resolved. Later, she learns that Nick enjoys racing as well from Jenna.
Just before Nick is set to race, Noah and Jenna enter the race. Nick wins his race despite initially being preoccupied. While she never reveals how she knows it, Jenna and Lion are equally taken aback by Noah as she also has some racing experience. The lion wins his race as well. When Noah sees a photo of Dan kissing her closest friend Betty, she is inspired to kiss Leonardo and tries to capture a picture of it.
Nick steps in and asks her to go. Nick kisses her because she is so determined to do it, snaps a picture for her, and leaves, asking her to wait in the car for Jenna to come get her. Since Noah unintentionally started the vehicle, she was forced to compete against Ronnie, the next competitor, since the vehicle was at the starting line. Ronnie cheated, yet Noah was still able to defeat him.
Because Ronnie claims they cheated and Nick was the one who was supposed to win, he is declared the winner. Nick must therefore give him €15,000 in addition to the Porsche he was driving. The altercation between Nick and Ronnie quickly turns into a gang war. It’s obvious to Nick that Noah is uneasy. Nick’s automobile is used to fetch her up by Jenna and Lion. They drive off once Nick joins them. Nick stays away from the company gala that his father plans. Nick gives Noah a passionate kiss in the common area the night after the banquet.
When Rafaella notices that Noah is upset, she brings Dan to their house. As Noah develops affection for Nick, she distances herself from Dan. After getting into a second fistfight with Ronnie, Nick is left with bruises. As Noah caters to Nick’s injuries, they rekindle their kiss. On a date that ends with Nick fighting in a fight club, Nick goes out with Noah, Jenna, Lion, Mario, and Anna. Because of her fear of the violence she has experienced throughout her life, Nick and Noah eventually part up.
Notes from someone waiting for retribution keep coming to Noah. Though she claims to be dead, it is her estranged father Jonás, whom Noah misidentifies as Dan. She is familiar with racing because Jonás was a racer. To track down Rafaella and Noah and exact retribution, Jonás used Ronnie, his cellmate. After learning of this, William asks Nick to watch Noah closely.
Nick takes Anna home after she locks her in the closet and saves Noah from her. William finds out that Nick and Noah are having an unlawful relationship. On his mother’s side, Nick also has Maggie as a second half-sister.
After having sex on a beach, Nick and Noah declare their relationship is over, claiming it is not healthy for them. Ronnie later kidnaps Noah at Jonás’ command. From the notes, William and Rafaella discover that Jonás is responsible for this. Making a cash demand of €1 million, Jonás calls Rafaella. With the police following along, William and Rafaella engage in the conversation.
Nick enters and locates the hideout using the insurance tracker in his Porsche. When Jonás finds out, he holds her hostage as Noah drives the Porsche in a car pursuit. With an inspector in tow, Nick drives after them. At the end of the chase, Jonás is killed by the inspector. After learning that Nick and Noah are dating, Rafaella begs William to put an end to this as soon as possible.
Filming of My Fault:
Based on the Wattpad novel Culpa mía by Mercedes Ron, which was later developed into a book trilogy published by Penguin Random House, My Fault explores this theme. My Fault is a production of Pokeepsie Films (Álex de la Iglesia and Carolina Bang). Marbella, Manilva, and Torremolinos were among the Costa del Sol places used for filming.
