Introduction of KGF Chapter 2:
Vijay Kiragandur wrote, directed, and produced KGF Chapter 2 under the Hombale Films label in 2022. It is a historical action film in the Indian Kannada language. KGF Chapter 2 is a sequel to KGF Chapter 1 from 2018 and the second instalment of a two-part series. Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Srinidhi Shetty, Prakash Raj, Achyuth Kumar, Rao Ramesh, Vasishta N. Simha, Ayyappa P. Sharma, Archana Jois, Saran Shakti, Easwari Rao, John Kokken, T.S. Nagabharana, and Malavika Avinash are among the cast members.
The most costly Kannada movie ever made, KGF Chapter 2, has a budget of 100 crore. With Ravi Basrur composing the film score and songs, and Bhuvan Gowda handling the cinematography, Neel kept the crew from its predecessor. Dutt and Tandon joined the cast in the first few months of 2019, the former making his Kannada film debut. KGF Chapter 2 was shot in sections immediately after Chapter 1.
The COVID-19 lockdown in India caused the principal filming for the remaining sequences to end in February 2020 after starting in March 2019. Five months later, production of KGF Chapter 2 picked back up, and it was finished in December 2020. Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mysore, and Kolar were among the locations.

On April 14, 2022, KGF Chapter 2 was theatrically released in India along with dubbed versions in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam. Additionally, it is the first Kannada film to be released in IMAX. The movie received mixed reviews from critics. It demolished the lifetime earnings of its predecessor in just two days to become the highest-grossing Kannada movie. KGF Chapter 2 also shattered domestic Kannada, Hindi, and Malayalam opening day records. KGF Chapter 2 is the second-highest-grossing Indian film in India and the fourth-highest-grossing Indian film overall, with global earnings of 1,200-1,250 crore.

Storyline:
Following a summary of the events in KGF Chapter 1, Anand Ingalagi has a stroke, and his son Vijayendra Ingalagi continues to tell the story.
To secure the support of Guru Pandian, Andrews, Kamal, and Rajendra Desai, Rocky kills Virat, seizes control of the Kolar Gold Fields, and holds Reena captive. However, when Rocky teases Reena and displays his conceit, Kamal becomes upset and threatens to kill him, which enrages Rocky, who then shoots Kamal on the spot. Rocky then gives the go-ahead for the opening of eight secret mines, and Vanaram, whom Rocky had previously captured, chooses to assist him.

Adheera reappears in the meantime and massacres every guard at a fort. Andrews kills Desai to entice Reena outside KGF, and John kidnaps Reena on Adheera’s instruction to get Rocky to her. Adheera shoots Rocky but leaves him unharmed while attempting to save Reena, and his men block all gold exports from KGF. Later, Shetty joins forces with other Andrews’ subordinates throughout India’s western coast and, with Inayat Khalil’s newly acquired assistance, eliminates Rocky’s comrades.
However, Rocky’s aides kill Shetty’s companions and retake the coast. To transact in gold with Khalil and purchase Kalashnikovs from him, a recovered Rocky travels to Dubai with Reena. With their freshly obtained weapons, Rocky and his gang severely hurt Adheera and kill his goons. Exasperated with KGF, certain central ministers prepared a no-confidence motion to overthrow the DYSS-supported administration and install Ramika Sen.
However, Rocky’s goons intimidated other ministers, preventing the motion from passing. Additionally, Rocky kills Shetty, seizing control of Bombay. Rocky ignores Pandian’s warnings about Sen’s ascent to power despite them.

Ramika Sen was elected prime minister of India in 1981 after winning the national elections. Sen gives the go-ahead for a raid on Rocky’s warehouses after CBI officer Kanneganti Raghavan briefs her on the circumstances at K.G.F. Rocky’s goons catch a young Ingalagi snooping, but Rocky is moved by his integrity. Except for a 400-gram gold bar, the CBI finds nothing during their raids. Rocky takes it from a police station and, armed only with an M2 Browning machine gun, obliterates the building by himself.
Rocky suspends all K.G.F. exports, causing tension with Khalil, but continues mining. To take care of Shanti’s recently relocated burial, his assistants track for his biological father, a drinker who ran away from his family. Rocky and Reena are married after she confides in him her sentiments.
Sen is presented with a dossier exposing Rocky’s involvement in money laundering when Rocky meets with her, but she refuses to consider it because practically all of her party’s members are involved in the wrongdoing. With the assistance of Khalil’s armada and still enraged over his defeat, Adheera travels to K.G.F. with Andrews, Daya, and John. Adheera fatally shot Reena as she was telling Rocky about her pregnancy.

In the subsequent battle, Rocky kills John and chokes Adheera to death, while Rocky’s army kills Andrews and Daya. Rocky and his goons interrupt Sen’s address at the Parliament and kill Pandian, who had staged the Garuda attack for which Adheera was blamed and had previously told Adheera about the attack. Additionally, he was the one who led Adheera to the hidden tunnel, provoked Andrews into giving Rocky a job, organized the Delhi no-confidence vote, and convinced Shetty to work with Khalil to win Rocky’s trust.
Sen sentences Rocky to death and commands the Indian Army to carry it out. Rocky evacuates K.G.F. and departs on a ship carrying his gold stash. Rocky establishes a new colony before departing for all K.G.F. employees. He lets the Navy know where he is but refuses to give himself up. Sen gives the order to destroy K.G.F. and Rocky’s ship, and as a result, he drowns in the ocean with the gold, which is still missing today. A teenage Ingalagi decides to write a book about Rocky after becoming fascinated by his life.
Three months before Rocky’s passing, John Booker, a CIA agent, gives Ramika Sen a file detailing Rocky’s crimes committed in the USA and 16 other nations between 1978 and 1981. A final draft of K.G.F Chapter 3 is discovered in the present by a 24/News channel employee.
Filming of KGF Chapter 2:
The second portion of the film was 20% of the original before its predecessor’s December 2018 premiere, and the crew worked double shifts until January 2019. KGF Chapter 2 was scheduled to continue production in the summer of 2019, according to a 4 January announcement that 15% of the shooting had been finished.
On March 13, 2019, a ceremonial puja ceremony marked the beginning of filming for KGF Chapter 2 in Hyderabad. After an initial round of filming in May 2019 close to Bangalore, Yash declared that he would only join the sets in June 2019. Although Yash arrived on the site on June 6, filming for the movie began on June 4 at Mysore’s Lalita Mahal Palace.
At Cyanide Hills in Kolar Gold Fields, the shooting later started in August 2019. On August 28, 2019, N Srinivas, the leader of the KGF’s National Citizens Party, filed a petition against the filmmakers, alleging that KGF Chapter 2 is being made when the cyanide mound is a protected location and is harming the environment.

The producer Kiragandur has received a notice of injunction from the JMFC court, also directing that the shoot be postponed. The producers of KGF Chapter 2 stated that the stay order was granted on September 4—the day before they intended to wrap up the shooting schedule. On the same day, Hyderabad’s second schedule of filming got underway. Sanjay Dutt began working on the movie’s Hyderabad sets on September 25, 2019.

The final portion of the production, which was filmed in Mysore, was supposed to take place in Hyderabad before moving on to Bangalore and Kolar.
The filming of Yash at the Infosys campus in Mysore was captured on a behind-the-scenes video, which went viral on February 3, 2020. Telugu actor Rao Ramesh began working on the movie’s set on February 10. On February 12th, Raveena Tandon arrived at the Mysore filming location. On February 21, the filmmakers left for Hyderabad after the second schedule of the movie, which was shot in Mysore, was finished.
On February 28, Raveena finished the required components. Filming was put on hold because of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in India after the producers completed the majority of the project in March 2020 and began post-production work. After Sanjay Dutt received a lung cancer diagnosis and left the country for medical treatment on August 12, 2020, Prashanth Neel said that Sanjay Dutt had finished filming and that just his portions’ dubbing was still pending.

After a 5-month break, the movie was resumed on August 26, 2020, in Bangalore. On this schedule, Prakash Raj and Malavika Avinash joined the sets. Yash and Srinidhi Shetty resumed the shoot in Mangalore on October 7, 2020, while the team was in its penultimate leg. Sanjay Dutt said that he would begin filming the movie in November, although he didn’t start shooting again until December. The coordinated action scenes for the climactic scenes were shot in Hyderabad in December 2020. The film’s climax scene was finished, according to a 20 December 2020 announcement from the producers. The most costly Kannada film, KGF Chapter 2, cost 125 crore to produce.

Release Date of KGF Chapter 2:
KGF Chapter 2 was once slated for a 23 October 2020 theatrical release, which would have coincided with the Dussehra festival. The COVID-19 outbreak in India, however, forced the distribution to be delayed. The filmmakers said in January 2021 that it would be shown in theatres on July 16, 2021. But for the same reason, it was again postponed. Actor Yash, producer Vijay Kiragandur, and director Prashanth Neel received a notification from the Karnataka State Anti-Tobacco Cell on January 11, 2021, for failing to include the anti-smoking warning message, notably in the scenes where Yash is smoking.

To prevent admirers from imitating it, anti-smoking signs must be posted as required by law. The revised release date was revealed as 14 April 2022 on August 22, 2021. The movie was finally released on April 14, 2022, in Kannada and dubs of Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam. It was the first Kannada film to be shown in Greece. In addition, it is the first Kannada movie to debut in IMAX. Furthermore, it is the first Kannada movie to be shown in South Korea. In Pakistan, it was also the first Kannada film to be released commercially.
