James Cameron is the director, writer, producer, and co-editor of the American disaster movie “Titanic” in 1997. It is the most-watched movie in the world. It is based on reports of the RMS Titanic disaster in 1912 and includes both historical and fictitious elements. Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio play members of various social classes who fall in love during the ship’s initial voyage. Additionally featured in the film are Billy Zane, Kathy Bates, Frances Fisher, Gloria Stuart, Bernard Hill, Jonathan Hyde, Victor Garber, and Bill Paxton.
Cameron was inspired to create the image by his obsession with shipwrecks. He believed that to adequately express the emotional impact of the calamity, a love tale intermingled with the human loss was required. When Cameron captured footage of the Titanic wreck on September 1, 1995, production officially started. The modern scenes on the research vessel were filmed aboard the Akademik Mstislav Keldysh, which Cameron had used as a base when photographing the wreck.
The sinking was reenacted using scale models, computer-generated images, and a Titanic replica made at Baja Studios. The movie was co-financed by Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Fox; 20th Century Fox handled foreign distribution while Paramount handled U.S. and Canadian distribution. With a $200 million production budget, Titanic at the time was the most expensive movie ever made. The filming took place between July 1996 and March 1997.
Titanic was made available on December 19, 1997. It won praise for its emotional complexity, production value, directing, soundtrack, cinematography, special effects, and acting (particularly from DiCaprio, Winslet, and Stuart). After being nominated for 14 Academy Awards and taking home 11, including Best Picture and Best Director, it tied Ben-Hur (1959) for the most Oscars ever won by a film. Titanic was the first movie to pass the $1 billion mark, with an original global gross of approximately $1.84 billion.
Up until 2010, when James Cameron’s Avatar (2009) broke it, it held the record for the most money made in a motion picture. Thanks to several re-releases, the film has now earned $2.257 billion globally, passing Avatar to become the second film to accomplish this feat. E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982) – 2nd Most-Watched Movie
American science fiction film “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial”, which Melissa Mathison wrote, was produced and directed by Steven Spielberg. It is the second most-watched movie. It relates the tale of Elliott, a little kid who makes friends with an alien named E.T. who has been left behind on Earth. Elliott must devise a strategy to help E.T. return home with his friends and family. The cast of the film includes Drew Barrymore, Henry Thomas, Peter Coyote, Robert MacNaughton, and Dee Wallace.
Spielberg created an imaginary friend who served as the basis for the story after his parents had divorced. After meeting in 1980, Spielberg and Mathison developed a fresh story based on the unfinished Night Skies script. Mathison wrote the first draft of the script, named E.T. and Me, in less than two months, and it through two modifications. The plan was turned down by Columbia Pictures because they didn’t believe it would be profitable. The script was finally bought by Universal Pictures for $1 million.
Filming ran from September to December 1981 on a $10.5 million budget. Contrary to most films, E.T. was filmed roughly in chronological order to support the young cast members’ ability to deliver convincing emotional performances. The animatronics designer for the film was Carlo Rambaldi.
On May 26, 1982, E.T. made its international premiere as the opening film of the Cannes Film Festival. On June 11, 1982, it became a public resource in the US. It surpassed Star Wars to become the most successful film of all time, holding that position for eleven years until Steven Spielberg’s own Jurassic Park overtook it in 1993. The Wizard of Oz (1939) – 3rd Most-Watched Movie
The screenplay’s authors, Noel Langley, Florence Ryerson, and Edgar Allan Woolf, were given credit, but other writers also contributed without being acknowledged. With lyrics by Edgar “Yip” Harburg, the music was created by Harold Arlen and adapted by Herbert Stothart. The use of Technicolor, fantastical tale, musical score, and endearing characters define The Wizard of Oz. The 1977 American epic space opera film Star Wars, which was written and directed by George Lucas and originally named “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope”, was made by Lucasfilm and released by 20th Century Fox. It is 4th most-watched movie. It served as both the fourth chronological instalment of the “Skywalker Saga” and the first film in the Star Wars film franchise to be produced.
The plot of “A Long Time Ago” centres on a band of freedom fighters known as the Rebel Alliance who seek to destroy the Empire’s most recent weapon, the Death Star. Peter Jackson directed the 2003 epic fantasy action movie “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King”, which was based on a screenplay by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, and Jackson. It is based on J. R. R. Tolkien’s 1955 book The Return of the King, the third instalment in The Lord of the Rings.
The film is The Lord of the Rings trilogy’s concluding chapter and the sequel to 2002’s The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. Although The Return of the King was entirely shot and edited in Jackson’s native New Zealand, as with the other two parts of the trilogy, it was financed and released by the American studio New Line Cinema.
